Description

Philodendron Micans (Philodendron hederaceum var. Hederaceum), also called a Velvet Leaf Philodendron, is a member of the Araceae family of plants. Like other plants in this group, such as the alocasia, caladium, and dieffenbachia, all parts of a Philodendron Micans contain calcium oxalate crystals in the form of raphides which makes it a poisonous plant. This very attractive, easy care plant is native to Mexico and the Caribbean, and looks beautiful in a hanging basket or spreading out on a table. You can also train the plant to grow up a trellis or moss polPP

Your plant's pot should have holes in the bottom so it is able to drain water easily.

If reusing a pot that had other plants in it, it is recommended you wash the pot, killing any mould or bacteria

Do not over water your plant as the roots will rot.

Most plants need to be kept by a good source of natural light.

Fertiliser

You should fertilise your plant every two months. You can use all purpose fertiliser.

Any dead or fallen leaves should be removed to prevent bacteria and mould. Dead branches should also be removed.
