“Floristry is in our blood,” says Peter of QG Floral Co. in New York. “It was passed down over generations, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I was brought up to appreciate floristry and flowers.” That’s lucky for us (and you), because it’s impossible not to appreciate the incredible bouquets that Peter and the team create. Generations-old their artistry might be, but that doesn’t mean their use of seasonal flowers, different textures and styles feels old-fashioned - not by a long shot. “We like to move with the times and adopt new trends, rather than sticking to the same thing. I think that’s why our business has been so successful.” Covering the areas of Queens, Long Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx makes the work they do all the more remarkable, given how much care and creativity goes into each bouquet. Despite its scope however, it still feels like a family business - a quality that is exemplified in Peter’s answer to one question in particular. “My most memorable floral occasion? My wedding! It was so great to be involved in picking out each individual flower that both symbolized our relationship and also suited our general decor and theme. It made me realise how our customers feel when they pick each individual stem, and how important it is to tailor everything for each customer.”
