Founded by Peter and his mother Grace, San Francisco’s Bloom Theory is a family affair. Located in Emeryville, northwest Alameda County, Bloom Theory delivers hand-tied bouquets to the people of the bay area.
It was while working in finance that Grace discovered her true passion: floristry. And after finishing his job, he made the decision to channel his energy into this pursuit. “I feel a special connection to flowers,” explains Grace, who draws her inspiration from the effervescent, complex worlds of both art and fashion, rather than from specific florists or fleeting trends.
Describing her aesthetic as “Korean style floristry” – you can expect to see unexpected colour combinations, exotic stems, and seasonal foliage in a Bloom Theory bouquet, all sourced locally from San Francisco Flower Market.
When asked why flowers make such a special gift, for Grace, it’s about the emotional weight that the language of flower is able to carry from one person to another. “I make sure that I put emotion into each arrangement that I make, which is then carried to the person receiving the flowers.”
