Rawtenstall is a town of about 22,000 located in the northwest English county of Lancashire. Close to regional hub Blackburn, the town is renowned for its location amid some of the most beautiful landscapes in the county.
The stately home and grounds of Towneley Park is surely one of Lancashire’s foremost attractions, if not the greatest of all. Perhaps the best known of local attractions near Rawtenstall is the stately home at Gawthorpe Hall. Located on the banks of the River Calder, it is a Grade I listed building with World Heritage Status since the 1950’s. The building itself hails from the Elizabethan era whilst the decor within is mostly Victorian.
