A postern in the original London Wall, Moorgate became, well, a gate, in the 15th century. Although the gate was destroyed in 1762, the name survives as a major street in the City of London - as well as a stop on the underground. The street connects the inner city to the London boroughs of Hackney and Islington, although the station is unfortunately remembered for the fatal accident there in 1975.
