Miner’s Lettuce (Claytonia perfoliata) is a herbaceous annual that’s native to California and other parts of western North America. The flower is distinctive due to the fact that two large leaves grow and intertwine at the top of the stem, giving the appearance of a lilypad that acts as a support for the tiny flowers above.
The flower was given it’s somewhat idiosyncratic name after becoming a staple for Gold miners who would eat it to prevent scurvy in the mid-19th century.
Today Walnut Creek florists use Miner’s Lettuce and other local stems to add Bay Area flavour to their elegant bouquets.

My wife love her anniversary flowers especially as she loves Tulips and it’s really hard to get them this time of year.
I am very happy with the service and local florist. Bouquet arrived on time and was better than the picture. Thank you!
Floom was easy to order from but I wish I knew what was actually delivered. I have no idea. I sent a plant as condolences to the parents of a friend. I don't know them well. They're not exactly going to snap a photo and send that to me.
