Arden Heights in the New York borough of Staten Island was given its name by noted real estate developer Erastus Wiman in 1886. No one knows for sure where Wiman conjured the name from, but most presume that it is a reference to the hill that looks down over the Village Greens shopping center and housing development. While Wiman, who was at one point the owner of the New York Mets, eventually fell into bankruptcy and prison sentences for forgery, Arden Heights continues to play a role in the unending Staten Island housing boom.
