Rose
Roses are red, violets are blue… that’s not necessarily true. In fact, roses come in a vast array of vibrant hues from classic red and pink, through to orange, yellow, lavender and white.
While the red rose (and favourite flower of Venus, the Roman goddess of love) has long been considered a fail-safe way of saying “I love you” on Valentine’s Day, roses of the orange variety also channel the welcome traits of enthusiasm, passion and desire – a bold choice for a burning love.

Red tulips
Does you lover set your heart – and your loins – aflame? Red tulips have historically been regarded a declaration of love, but they’re symbolic of passion, too.
Forget-Me-Nots
“True love, don't forget me,” said the forget-me-not to its receiver, to which they replied, “never, my love”. Forget penning a hand written note this Valentine’s Day, for the forget-me-not speaks a thousand words.

Primrose
Having long been considered to symbolise a love that will never die, the primrose is a considered Valentine’s Day stem. Associated with eternal love (and youth), the name Primrose stems from the Latin word, primus, meaning first – a fine choice for a first Valentine’s Day, no less.
Gardenia
Indulging in dangerous Valentine’s Day liaisons? Send your lover a bouquet of gardenia stems for they are believed to symbolise a secret love. Be sure to sign your personalised notecard with a question mark, and nothing else.
