Mad Lilies is more than just a flower shop. We think that Mad Lilies has its own beating heart and soul – it certainly feels sometimes that this wonderful bricks and mortar store has a life and personality all of its own. It without doubt feels this way due to a combination of the history of the space itself having been a flower shop for the past 30 years, the spirited and wildly talented team who call this their workplace and the leader of the pack; and the big personality of Alison Howe, the owner and hands-on owner.
Alison sees herself as current custodian believing that Mad Lilies lets itself to her rather than being the creator – although that may not be strictly true; there has been a huge amount of hard graft and love gone into getting Mad Lilies to the place it occupies today. Alison took over the shop in February 2013 after a long search for a premises following a major career change. It’s quite a leap from pharmaceuticals to flowers but with floristry in her blood from both her mother and maternal grandmother, and bitten by the bug after a floristry course at the illustrious Jane Packer School, Alison was ready to jump into the life of a florist and the chaos and wonder that career gives. From that point on, Alison has taken Mad Lilies from strength to strength, collecting accolades, awards and respect of the wider flower industry both here in the UK and further afield. The backbone of these achievements being the team that Alison has built; a team that fleshes out all its strengths with talent, commitment and dedication; the heart this exceptional group gives to their individual roles is testament to motivational leadership and vision. Mad Lilies is a florist at the heart of a community keeping long time customers delighted; returning again and again whilst creating world class design for large scale events and weddings in Surrey and beyond.
