Hoo St Werburgh, commonly known as Hoo, is a large village and civil parish in the Medway district of Kent. Hoo's location makes it a perfect getaway with access to Buckland Lake reserve. Its position on the mouth of the Thames was of particular significance throughout the medieval world as a trading port and military outpost, with many castles built on the peninsula including Grain Fort and Slough Fort, both of which still stand today. The former of the two lies on the Isle of Grain, a marshland that used to be separated from the mainland by a river giving it is name.
