Hastings castle is a keep and bailey ruin located on the coast just outside Hastings town. Built by William the Conqueror and his Normans almost immediately after landing on the south coast of England, it was home to the Norman king for many years. The building of this castle is depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry.
In the centre, Hastings Pier is generally considered one of the more vibrant areas of town. Recently renovated after deteriorating somewhat after its 30’s heydey, Hastings Pier features an observatory platform, restaurants and all manner of shops.
