The station opened in 1879 on the Metropolitan Railway (what is now the Metropolitan line), and between 1894 and 1938 it was in fact called Willesden Green and Cricklewood station. Poor Cricklewood. The main station buildings date back to the reconstruction of the station in 1925, and were built by Charles Walter Clark - the architect of the Metropolitan Railway, and who built several central area stations in this style.
