Located on the Isle of Dogs in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Island Gardens is a public park which was opened in August 1895 by Will Crooks, a local politician. The waterside park is notable for its spectacular cross-river view of the Cutty Sark, National Maritime Museum and Greenwich Park. It is believed that the view from Island Gardens was the basis for the Caneletto painting 'Greenwich Hospital from the North Bank of the Thames' - a really beautiful painting if you get the chance to check it out.
