A district and electoral ward in south east London, located within the London Borough of Lewisham, Grove Park is located in close proximity to Bromley and Eltham. The area is also home to part of the Green Chain walk, which links Elmstead woods to London’s ever increasing number of green spaces.
A settlement since Celtic times, early modern development was centred around the Grove Park railway station in the 19th century, with much of what still stands based around a housing estate built by the Metropolitan Borough of Lewisham in the 1920s. After use by the Army during the First World War, a workhouse built in 1902 was then reformed into Grove Park hospital - and is now a housing estate.
Mottingham playing fields is host to the River Quaggy, and borders the neighbouring Mottingham area.
