A small city just south of San Francisco, Half Moon Bay is famous for its beaches and world-renowned surf spots.
The most popular beach is Half Moon Bay State Beach, a four mile sprawl of broad sandy beaches with epic vistas across the Pacific Ocean. This is a family beach that’s a favourite with trail-runners and anglers.
The famous surf spot at Mavericks is located just a couple of miles north of the city of Half Moon Bay. Since 1999 it has been home to the Mavericks Invitational surf competition and swells here are some of the heaviest in the country. A favourite pastime of local residents is to take a spot on the headland and watch in awe of the exceptionally skilful surfers who brave these monster waves.
Away from the water, Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve is a four and a half thousand acre sprawl of nature reserve featuring tall trees, canyon hikes, trails and paths for horse riding. A range of water bodies flow through the area, including Purisima Creek, from which the park takes its name.
Throughout this small city, from Main Street to Kelly Avenue, Floom’s Half Moon Bay flower delivery covers every block and beach in town.
