Matriarch
Kelsey Harper Parker was already a stalwart of the L.A. flower scene when she decided to start Matriarch, having been the creator and designer of the cult LA company Flower Girl Los Angeles. Matriarch is an outlet not only for floristry but for supporting the incredible women who somehow juggle all that life throws at them while remaining inspiring. Of course beautiful bouquets are still a big part of the offering, inspired further by Kelsey’s love of “travel, the open road, a quest to understand one’s sense of self, the Californian landscape, the nostalgic scents of places you visit and how your mind treasures and carries those memories with you…” All in all, quite the offering! And one that Kelsey and her team somehow manage to deliver on a daily basis.
Kelsey thinks flowers “speak for themselves” when it comes to making such good gifts – “they alter a mood in an instant, they excite the senses and I love the element of surprise.” Ever the LA girl at heart, her favourite flowers are from a magnolia in bloom. “They must be enjoyed while in bloom on the tree because when they are cut they brown very quickly. Their aroma is intoxicating, and they bloom all over Los Angeles.”
