Allison Stevens views every bouquet like a little piece of art. “We love presenting customers with flowers in a way they haven’t seen before, either by sourcing unusual varieties or finding the perfect container for an arrangement,” she says. “Everything that leaves our shop has to have that allusive ‘je ne sais quoi’.”
The French connection doesn’t stop there. Before co-founding San Diego-based Société Fine Flowers in 2016, Allison formally trained in France’s Loire Valley, where floristry is respected as much as an art form as it is a profession. Her travels around Europe continue to inspire her designs today. She also sources unusual floral varieties and botanicals native to South America and the Pacific Northwest, as well as closer to San Diego, in Southern California.
Société Fine Flowers develops a custom approach for every client, whether for individual arrangements, large weddings – and even on one occasion for the holiday home of former US president Barack Obama. “We love creating bouquets for the person who has everything or as a special luxury for those who do not,” says Allison. “Flowers make people feel more alive.”
