If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in Venice, California you’d be hard-pressed to find a better stop-off than Stella Shirinda’s Flowerboy Project. It’s basically a triple-whammy of things we love. Incredible floral arrangements (of course) but also a wonderfully-considered selection of gifts and – the literal icing on the cake – a café serving all manner of delights both savory and sweet. Literally, the place is almost too Instagrammable.
Flowerboy Project then is not a conventional flower shop, so it may not surprise you to hear that nor was its route to a fully-fledged floristry offering. “We wanted to make purchasing florals more casual but also more creative for the individual customers,” says Stella. “So we created a ‘stem wall’, from which people could create their own arrangements while still having us on hand to support in any way needed. Eventually, customers were asking us to create arrangements and looks for their events and businesses so we expanded to accommodate. It’s all been a natural progression, which has allowed us to grow around the needs of our community and led to some beautiful interactions.”
This natural but eye-catching approach extends to the distinctive style Stella and her team have cultivated, seen across the bouquets now available on Floom. “Our style tends to be freeform, natural and unique. We try to use less ordinary blooms and greens, and we try to utilize them in a more extraordinary fashion.”
