Eric Buterbaugh Design

It’s safe to say that ‘understated’ is not a word that comes to mind when one thinks of self-described “floral-designer-to-the-stars” Eric Buterbaugh. Head to his website and you’ll find a picture of Eric resplendent in a glorious, redder-than-red tartan shirt with bejeweled crown balanced fabulously upon his head. Luckily for us though, in the times between posting naughty things to Instagram and painting the town red with friends Demi, Naomi, Gwyneth and Gwen (yes, all the ones you’re thinking of) he’s built himself an incredible empire of even more incredible floral delights. His floral perfumes launched to considerable acclaim in 2015 but the backbone of his business remains his eye-catching bouquets and table arrangements, which evolved from favours for friends into flowers for the Four Seasons. “Every event and arrangement we do is memorable though,” says Eric. “We don’t like to create things that are formulaic – I approach every arrangement individually and love to add a special touch.”

Despite the bombardment of delights that surround Eric everyday, he still doesn’t hesitate when asked to pick out a particularly favorite bloom. “My favorite, favorite flower of all time is the coral peony. It starts out this bright salmon color and as it opens/over time it turns the most beautiful shade of buttery cream. . I call it the flower that keeps on giving!”
