“There is no better way to express your emotions than with a bunch of flowers,” says Yolanda Davis of Lynne Floral Art in Essex. “Whenever I have hand-delivered flowers, I have seen the biggest, most honest smiles – it’s the recognition that someone has taken time to pick flowers that symbolize both their love for the recipient but also the recipient’s personality as well.” While it took her some time to drum up the courage to transform her creativity and love of horticulture into an actual floristry shop, Lynne Floral Art means that Yolanda knows she is able to conjure those same smiles every single day. Beaming, she adds, “since the day we opened, I haven’t looked back!” Describing her floristry style as, “contradictory – both vintage and contemporary,” Yolanda holds a particular love for teal, pastel pink and tiger lily colours in her arrangements. “They’re so understated and classic, and work so well in people’s homes and offices.” Equally though, Yolanda constantly pushes her art in interesting new directions. “I love wild, rustic arrangements,” she says. “Plenty of textures and seasonal foliage.” As for her favourite flower? “I would have to say the astible. They are usually a little misunderstood, but can really add a little bit of joy and a boost of colour into an arrangement.”
